The Tone-Squelch can be set on your radio to receive the transmitted tone for when a repeater signal is transmitted with the tone. This has two advantages. First it will prevent your receiver from breaking the squelch if there is noise on your receiver frequency that is NOT from the repeater. Secondly, if you do not have a YAESU Fusion radio, the Tone-Squelch will prevent your receiver from opening when a digital conversation is going on, so you don’t hear the digital noise.
